2009-2013 Capital Improvement plan now available online Posted June 4, 2009
New format designed to provide greater opportunity to regional vendors
Cleveland | June 4, 2009 - As the District continues its changes under new leadership, the Engineering & Construction department has modified the format and detail of its annual five-year look-ahead into the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Beginning with this 2009 publication, the District's five-year CIP has a new look. This new format was designed to provide more information to our vendor community, including new Small Business Enterprise (SBE) companies, to allow them to better plan for future opportunities. The new format is organized by Program Area (Plants, Collections Systems, and combined sewer overflows, or CSOs), provides key schedule milestones (Design Start and Construction Start dates), and includes brief descriptions of each project. It is our hope that vendors will find this new format and expanded information useful in the pursuit of District work over the next several years.
The anticipated project awards for the 2009-2013 period are valued at more than $1.4 billion, more than 57% of which are classified as CSO program projects.
The investment over the next five years is substantial and will require the work of many to achieve. CH2M Hill will serve as Program Manager to assist the District in delivering this aggressive CIP. Through 2013, CH2M Hill will work closely with District staff to issue Requests-for-Proposals (RFPs), prepare bid documents, and oversee construction administration of critical projects.
As the District prepares to procure CIP projects under its new SBE program beginning this month, potential vendors are encouraged to visit the District's SBE homepage to obtain critical information about registering with the District as an SBE, and review the current SBE registry for potential teaming partners.
In addition, vendors may contact the following District staff for additional information on CIP projects:
Wastewater Treatment Plants Gregory L. Binder, P.E. Plants Program Manager
Collection System/CSO Richard J. Switalski, P.E. Collection System Program Manager
The continued investment in our plants and infrastructure is key to maintaining the region, and the sustainability of our environment and Lake Erie for future generations to enjoy.
