| Wally loves being healthy. When he is, he's attractive and people love to spend time with him, playing at the beach, in the park, or even in the rain or in your backyard at home!
So what can you and your family do to keep Wally safe and healthy? Here are a few ideas:
Don't litter!
Garbage in the street can wash away into sewers when it rains, and that means it might flow into our lake or rivers, too. So make sure your trash ends up in a garbage can where it belongs!
Don't drain it! Contain it!
Grown-ups keep things in the basement and garage that can help them around the house, but can also make Wally sick if they are poured into a drain! Things like paint, motor oil, and fertilizer should be recycled, not poured into a sewer. The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District has a list of times and places your parents can go for recycling.
Don't flush medicine down the toilet!
Medicine can help keep us healthy, but it can make fish and other animals sick if it gets into the lake and streams. That's why grown-ups shouldn't pour medicine down a drain or in a toilet. But the Sewer District has a list of ways your parents can dispose of old medicines safely.
