Benefits

We care about our employees’ health and wellness.

Empowering our employees

We understand the importance of living healthy, well-balanced lives. We encourage all our employees and their families to take full advantage of our comprehensive benefit offerings available for our Union and Non-Union employees.

You can see the benefits guides for each of our workforce classifications:

Medical, Dental, Vision, and Hearing coverage

Employees can elect medical/prescription, dental, vision and hearing coverage for themselves and their dependents. Medical, prescription, vision and hearing insurance is provided by Medical Mutual of Ohio, while dental insurance is provided by Delta Dental. AFSCME employees receive their dental, vision and hearing benefits through the Supplemental AFSCME Care Plan provided through the union.

Healthcare Buyout Option

We want all of our employees to live healthy, well-balanced lives whether they enroll in the Sewer District’s benefits or not. Employees who hold medical coverage elsewhere may be eligible to participate in our Healthcare Buyout program and receive up to $350 per month.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

We offer two Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options that employees can elect: Healthcare FSA, and Dependent Care FSA. Employees can contribute pre-tax dollars to the account to help pay for qualified healthcare or childcare/eldercare expenses. Employees can choose to participate in one or both of the FSAs.

Employee assistance program

All employees have access to a menu of health and wellness services from our provider, ESI EAP. Emotional, crisis, financial, physical, whatever your needs may be, our employee assistance program is available to employees and their families.

Supplemental Life Insurance and AD&D

Employees who wish to increase their life insurance coverage may do so on a voluntary basis. See the applicable benefit guide for more details.

Employee Resource Groups

You deserve to bring your whole self to work. Employee resource groups allow coworkers to connect, listen, and learn as a team. Our current ERGs include Veterans, Latino, Young Professionals, African American, Business Professionals Network, LGBTQ+, Sustainability, Women, and Good Neighbor Ambassadors. We’re also considering others based on employee suggestions.

Community involvement opportunities

We serve more than a million northeast Ohioans and engage residents and community partners all year long. You would have many opportunities to help staff events and participate in programs that help make our regional work personal at the local level.

Professional development and tuition assistance

From our impactful Tuition Assistance Program to our license and certification reimbursement, we want our employees to grow personally and professionally.
