Annual Benefit Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment for 2026 is November 10-21, 2025.
The Open enrollment period for electing your 2026 benefits through UKG will take place Monday, November 10 through Friday, November 21. Employees only need to make elections if changing benefits or enrolling in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
New next year: Mass Transit Accounts
Employees who commute via public transportation will have the opportunity to create a Mass Transit account beginning in 2026 and use pre-tax dollars to pay for such things as bus and Rapid Transit fare cards, tokens, passes, and vouchers.
A Mass Transit Account functions much like a Flexible Savings Account: Employees decide how much to set aside in pre-tax dollars per month (up to IRS limits), then draw on their account to pay for eligible transit to and from work.
Note that van pools are eligible expenses (subject to certain conditions), but EZ Pass charges, tolls, and taxi, Uber, and Lyft rides are not eligible. Learn more.
Coming in Q1 2026: Dependent verification
To keep healthcare costs as low as possible and ensure NEORSD is complying with health plan eligibility requirements and federal law, the Sewer District will be partnering next year with third-party vendor WTW to verify dependent eligibility.
All employees with one or more dependents covered on their health plan will need to provide documents confirming their dependents’ eligibility. Documents may include birth certificates, marriage licenses, and/or proof of dependents’ residence in an employee’s household.
The process will take four to six weeks, at the end of which, any ineligible dependents will be removed from the Sewer District’s health plan without penalty. Dependents removed from the health plan will not be eligible for COBRA and will need to find alternative health insurance.
More information to come in January 2026 from the WTW Dependent Verification Center. In the meantime, reach out with any questions to HRDirect@neorsd.org.
