District is 2004 Employer of the Year
CSU honors work with students

For our growing efforts with Cleveland State University students, CSU awarded the District with the 2004 Employer of the Year award April 21.

Cleveland State's Link Program -- which supports minority students and matches them with co-op and employment options while enrolled -- honored the Sewer District as the largest single employer of Link students last year.

"Every positive recognition is an important piece of our overall community outreach campaign," said Employee Resources Director Tom Lenhart, who attended the ceremony with ER Associate Yvette Burke.

Burke's District-supported "Building Toward the Future (BTF) Career-Readiness Program" helps high-school juniors and seniors learn business-world basics that are seldom taught in the classroom, such as interview skills, proper business attire, and resume-writing. Three current Link students are also BTF graduates.

One of them, Charde Wynn, is a former student assistant and is now a full-time employee while she continues her education.

CSU also honored Termaine Lewis, another former student assistant and BTF grad who is excelling in CSU's engineering program, as an Outstanding Student.
