How will extensive CSO control program affect rates? NewsChannel 5 reports

In response to the Board's recent approval for the District to proceed with its $1.6 billion 30-year combined sewer overflow construction plan, NewsChannel 5 featured a brief story March 17 on how the plan may affect customers' rates in the future.

While the CSO control program is federally mandated by the EPA, which is arbitrarily setting the maximum duration of any such program at 20 years, the District will receive no federal funding. It is this reason that led the District to propose a 30-year plan to minimize the financial impact on ratepayers.
